HIGH SCHOOL, APARTMENT, LOCKER ROOM
Face of the Franchise is Madden’s narrative mode, and my first title using Frostbite. We were brought in late on a production already running behind. I ramped up quickly so I could start making and managing scenes on my own as soon as possible.
While a gray box for the high school entrance had been set up, I did all final modeling, texturing, and set dressing. I worked with the camera team to figure out how best to take advantage of the camera composition and do only the work that was needed to stay on schedule.
I was responsible for set dressing the apartment and locker room, largely making use of existing assets, only making hero assets when absolutely necessary, such as the curtains and the couch. I went through, shot by shot, and did quick over-sketches to block out set dressing the general clutter to best compliment camera angles, composition, and character positions and eye lines.
Overall, I worked closely with the art director, lighting artists, and animation director to compose the environments in ways that best complimented every discipline and worked towards the vision of the shot.
